The idea

Sports do more than build athletes. They build confidence, connection, leadership, and community.

This summer, FuturePlay Sports is investing in expanded community gym access by hosting Open Gym Nights at Adrienne C. Nelson High School. Bringing kids, teens, adults, and families together for basketball, volleyball, training, and recreation in an accessible, welcoming environment.

These programs also demonstrate the growing demand for year-round indoor sports and recreation space across Portland's Eastside, as we work toward our long-term vision of a premier indoor sports destination in Happy Valley.

That's what it costs to host the full 5-night series at Adrienne C. Nelson High School. Pledges from community members help cover gym rental, insurance, and equipment costs, and signal the demand for more programming like this year-round. Pledge any amount when you sign up, or come for free. Both matter to us.

What is FuturePlay Sports?

Building the Eastside's sports home.

FuturePlay Sports is developing a premier indoor sports destination in Happy Valley, Oregon — designed to serve athletes, families, schools, clubs, and the entire Portland metro region.

The vision: year-round basketball, volleyball, and beach volleyball facilities capable of hosting regional and national tournaments, training programs, youth development, and community events. A real home for Eastside sports.

Open Gym Nights are how we start. We're showing up for the community we're building for — before the building is built.

What a night looks like

Get moving, get introduced. We set the tone for the night and make sure everyone knows what's happening where.

Equipment is provided. No need to bring a ball. Feel free to bring your own to share.

Tummy time and crawlers area on-site for the littlest ones. Bring the whole family.

Wear athletic shoes and bring a water bottle. That's it.

Do not enter the gym until 5 minutes before the session start time. The school asks that we hold the doors until then.

Minors 17 & under

An adult supervisor must be present on-premises for any participant age 17 or under. We hope they'll play too.

A parent or guardian must sign a waiver on behalf of any minor before they can participate. Waivers will be available at the door.
